As I research for topics to write about on this blog I find myself reading numberous articles and posts about hearing aids from writers across our country. One topics that simply never goes away and frankly is increasing is that of Insurance not covering hearing aids.
This is just a brutal reality that needs changing. People have a hard enough time coming to the realiztion that they may indeed need hearing aids, let alone agreeing to pay over $4,000 for them. Who has $4,000 lying around? No one does and that is why so many people who would have much better lives with hearing aids simply do not opt to purchase them.
I firmly believe that the government, be it local, state or national need to get involved and force insurance companies to cover hearing aids as well as the required visits to audiologists. People deserve the right to have access to affordable hearing aids and care. We are a wealthy country that spends ridiculous amounts of money on war and other things, it is time we did the right thing and forced insurance companies to cover hearing aids and all the accompanying issues.
