Are there any college students reading this blog or parents of kids in college? I am trying to get a feel for the usage of hearing aids in college. How is the negative peer pressure around hearing aids these days on the college campuses?
My hope is that there is a huge level of acceptance but I am not confident that this is the case. As I write this, there are some horrible stories coming out about people not being tolerant of others in light of the Tsunami in Japan. This leads me to worry that college kids these days may not be open to hearing aids.
The other issue that I would love to hear about is how students deal with not losing and keeping their hearing aid batteries changed. My vision of a college student is a pretty messy young person trying to just make it to class on time. I am worried that maintaining a hearing aid could be very low on their priority!
Maybe there are facilities on campuses that help students with medical needs and that hearing aid maintenance is addressed in these as well.
