Hands up if you are tired of all the trash that inundates the world of reality TV! I know I am not alone in this. There does, however, seem to a bright spot on the horizon. Marle Matlin, a very successful actress has decided to make a reality show about a Californian family that is deaf. Matlin herself is hearing impaired and has used hearing aids.

I suppose it is not surprising that MTV or the other major networks did not pick up the series. Why would they, it isnt focused on drinking and doing bad things !? This, however, did not stop Matlin. She is using Youtube as her distribution channel.

The whole idea makes me very happy. The story is told through the voice of the oldest son who is not deaf. I am going to watch an episode now. Please tell me what you think. Certainly this does not yet qualify as hearing aids being seen on TV but it is very close and gives us momentum in the right direction.
